Step 1. Download the PerfectBackup Manager tarball release (obm-solaris.tar.gz) from the website.

Step 2. Set the OBM_HOME environment variable

# export OBM_HOME=/usr/local/obm; export OBM_HOME

Step 3. Set the JAVA_HOME environment variable to the directory where J2SE Java Runtime Environment (JRE)

1.4.x has been installed

# export JAVA_HOME=/usr/java/j2re1.4.x; export JAVA_HOME

Step 4. Expand the client software to $OBM_HOME

# mkdir $OBM_HOME

# cd $OBM_HOME

# gunzip -c obm-solaris.tar.gz | tar –xf -

Step 5. Install OBM

# ./bin/install.sh

Step 6. Start Auto Upgrade Agent

# /etc/init.d/auaobm start

Step 7. Start backup scheduler

# /etc/init.d/obm-scheduler start

Step 8. Set the DISPLAY environment variable

Step 9. Run OBM

# sh $OBM_HOME/bin/BackupManager.sh &
